What is a GIF?
A GIF is "a lossless format for image files that supports both animated and static images." A GIF is a short art form that can help you depict a message. GIFs are a popular way to express memes, emotions, objects, products, and every aspect of life. That's why creating and making them is exciting because the possibilities are endless. The best part of all is that you can easily share them across all digital platforms. You can text a GIF, send a GIF as your status, and say a thousand words with a single GIF.
Currently, GIFs can be used on major social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, iMessage, Twitch, Snapchat, Pinterest, and others. The power of the GIF is excellent because it is also available worldwide, and anyone can find a GIF with a unique keyword that could be your company name or a description of services.
1. You should have 5 GIFs created to upload to GIPHY.
So how do you create GIFs? There are programs like Adobe Premiere Pro or Adobe Photoshop that can help you create these GIFs. Remember that for GIFs to appear on social media platforms, the file format of GIFs (.gif) must have a transparent background. Many online GIF creators can create GIFs, but most of them are made with a solid background and will not work if you want them to appear on social media. Your best option is to make them yourself or find someone who can do it for you.
Some important points to remember when creating GIFs are that the best GIFs are shareable, fun, and easily visible. Try using bright colors that contrast against darker backgrounds. Doing this will ensure that your GIFs are also visible at night. Avoid using dark colors like black or purple because these don't contrast with the overall background or blend into dark areas. Additionally, make sure to use high-quality graphics and videos because, due to small file sizes, GIFs lose quality once you save them. Another important point is that your GIFs should be related to your brand. You cannot have GIFs from different brands or organizations that are not consistent with your brand. The reason for this is that each brand needs to go through a screening process for the brand to be approved. It is important to remember that these GIFs are worldwide and open for public use, so they also need to be safe for everyone to see. Giphy will not approve GIFs that show too much skin or are inappropriate. GIPHY wants to keep GIFs G-rated so that everyone can use them and have fun with them. Check out the GIPHY Community Guidelines.
2. You must have a brand website.
Since you're applying to be a brand partner with GIPHY, you must show that you are a legitimate brand, artist, or influencer. All you need is a website that shows what you do with a clear message. YouTube channels don't count. The domain must belong to the brand and must not be associated with another platform. If you need help building a simple website, you can contact me.
3. You need to have a company email address.
If you already have a website, creating a corporate email or brand email should be easy. GIPHY wants all brand partner accounts to have an email contact from the website. Having a brand email means that you need an email linked to your website such as info@yoursitename.com.
4. You must submit your social media links.
Another critical factor in the GIPHY brand application process is to submit your social media accounts. To make it easier for GIPHY to find them, make sure your website includes links to your social media. Social media accounts should already have content about your brand. GIPHY is looking for brand partners who will be active on social media and use their accounts responsibly and creatively. Your accounts should also be public because the GIPHY team will need to check whether the accounts comply with their rules, and GIPHY cannot do this if your account is private. The bigger your followers and the longer your brand is active on social media, the higher the chance that GIPHY will approve your brand channel.
5. Apply to the GIPHY Brand Network
After you've organized everything with your five pre-prepared GIFs, your website, your brand email, and your social media links, you're ready to submit the GIPHY application. After submission, you will receive an email from Giphy confirming the application.
6. Wait for GIPHY's approval.
After the application is submitted, it usually takes about a week to know whether your application has been approved. GIPHY will send you a congratulatory email if your application is approved. If you have followed all the steps in this ultimate guide for social media GIF applications, your application should be accepted. However, since the GIPHY team is the final decision-maker, there is no guarantee that your application will be approved.
7. Your GIFs are live on social media!
After your GIF application is approved, your GIFs should be live on social media within a day or less. You can find GIFs through the keywords you submit while uploading the GIFs to your channel. The minimum number of GIFs required to have a channel is five, and after the channel is approved, you can upload as many GIFs as you want. Make sure you only upload GIFs about your brand or artist because GIPHY can downgrade your account at any time. When they downgrade your account, all your GIFs will be removed from social media because having GIFs on social media is a privilege. If you want to submit GIFs outside the scope of your brand, it's best to submit another application and have a separate channel for that brand or artist.

Turnaround Time for New Stickers in GIPHY's Search
To ensure that GIPHY tags are always fun and safe, there is an enhanced moderation process for approving tags into our library. This is a permanent part of the moderation process and may affect the turnaround time for uploaded content to appear in the Tag API (which powers business partners like Instagram).
If you're wondering why your sticker doesn't appear immediately, this might be the reason - but you should also double-check that you've added transparency to your file. Learn more about GIPHY Stickers.
Due to the nature of this process, we cannot approve a timeline for sticker moderation. However, you can be sure that all content that is safe for all ages and complies with the Community Guidelines will definitely appear in the index!
Please note: If you delete and re-upload your stickers, the moderation process will start from the beginning. As a result, I recommend you wait!
